HUMAN RIGHTS LEADER STUART MILK ENDORSES RAY BUCKLEY FOR DNC CHAIR
Concord, N.H. – Stuart Milk, the nephew of Harvey Milk, a global human rights leader, today announced his endorsement of New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley for Chair of the Democratic National Committee.
"I have worked with Ray Buckley for years in the fight to bring equal rights to all Americans. I have seen firsthand that Ray is a passionate, courageous, strategic leader. Like Uncle Harvey, Ray, too, has been a ground-breaker, becoming the first openly gay state legislator in New Hampshire, the first openly gay chair of a state political party, and the first openly gay vice chair of the Democratic National Committee," said Milk.
"Ray is a work-horse, who has demonstrated that he knows progress is built from the local level up, not the top down. For all those DNC members who have seen the powerful impact of uncle Harvey’s courage, authenticity, and visibility, and who have seen how all Americans have benefited from his ultimate sacrifice, I ask you to join me in supporting Ray. I hope all DNC members agree that Ray Buckley is absolutely the right person that we all need, at this critical moment, to the lead the DNC."
Harvey Milk was the first openly gay person to be elected to office in California and one of the first in the world. Just 11 months into his term on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Milk was assassinated at City Hall. Stuart Milk is a globally-recognized human rights advocate who has campaigned with world leaders for human rights and LGBT equality in more than 60 nations on 5 continents as the co-founder and President of the Harvey Milk Foundation.
